The Twelve Days of Christmas

Turns out Jerry was right. The twelve days of Christmas do start on Christmas day. I always thought they started on December 13th and ended on Christmas.

The West generally acknowledges a twelve-day festival, starting on December 25, and ending on January 5, known as Christmastide or the twelve days of Christmas, although some Christian cultures, especially those of Latin America and some in Europe extend it to as many as forty days, ending on Candlemas (February 2).

I rather like the idea of 40 days of Christmas, but that would be an awful lot of shopping!! And, can I just say?, my source is Wikipedia which any school child will tell you is not a reliable source.

Menu Plan Monday

Monday..........Wild Sockeye Salmon, sauteed spinach, couscous

Tuesday*.........Turkey meatloaf, roasted sweet potatoes
Wednesday*....Cape Breton Chicken** over brown rice
Thursday*.......Hashbrown Quiche, green salad
Friday.............ummmm....Black belt test tonight. I'll figure something out. Mike is taking the day off so maybe he will cook.

* Trying new recipes on old favorites. My meatloaf is always boring so I need something new. As for quiche - I always leave off the crust because I don't really like it so I'm trying a new crust.

** The chicken recipe is from Fix-It and Forget-It Lightly, a crockpot cookbook.
