K*Bots 2007 World Championship

It's been a busy month. Sam competed for the first time in the K*Bots World Championships which are held right here in Las Vegas each year. Unfortunately, "right here in Las Vegas" means in Summerlin so it's a 30 minute drive each way twice a day. The competitors spend the week building robots out of K'Nex parts and battle each other on Thursday and Friday. Sam made it through to the second round in each of his divisions, which is not bad at all for a rookie.

What we affectionately refer to as the "Nerd Herd". These competitors came from Nevada, Arizona, California, Utah, Texas, Massachusetts, Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Costa Rica, Thailand, Taiwan and China.

2007 United Fighting Arts Federation ITC

July once again brings us to the United Fighting Arts Federation International Training Conference. Ana and Karen both attended and Ana competed in Kata and Fighting. Ana moved up a division this year and did really well. She placed Third in Kata and Second in Fighting.

On the official schedule board

Ana, excited to be in class.

Me next to my instructor watching Ana be excited.

At this point the camera got left in my gear bag. As a black belt it is now my responsibility to judge and do anything else that is asked of me which doesn't leave lots of time for picture taking. I did pay money to have photographers follow Ana around for the entire weekend and in a few weeks I'll be able to get those photos. At least I will have pictures of Ana at this great event. Can't wait for next July to do it all again.

I'm not seein' it - UPDATED

I've been told I resemble these two lovely women. I'm just not seeing it.

My husband has added Karen Allen to the list.
Three Karens and a Carrie-Anne.
I'm pretty sure the name thing is a coincidence.

You're a very funny kitty cat!

Hot enough for ya?

It's already starting to cool down.

The makings of a good party

This is what is left after a GREAT 4th of July party at Joe's.
Way too much food, lots of fun people, 115 degrees, a swimming pool
and more fireworks than I've seen at some public displays!!

Welcome back

Pool Time Again

Do you remember this post from last July? Of course you don't. Who would? But anyhow....

We hit 110 degrees again so we went to the public pool. Friends are on vacation in cooler climes so Sam and I went by ourselves. Ana was already there since she is a Jr. Guard.
