There was a nice trail built along the shore, so we walked over to the Four Seasons and back.
I was unsure what the "possibility of crime" might be, but it seemed pretty safe to me.

Hawaii has a high tourist crime rate. It's kept low key of course. You won't have a lot of tourists if they think they'll all be targets for the locals.
